Originally designed in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1986 for the first British Summit attempt of K2, the Trango jacket was swiftly adopted by the Keswick Mountain Rescue team. Legendary mountaineers Sir Chris Bonnington and Alan Hinkes (OBE) fashioned Berghaus apparel on their pioneering expedition to the Himalayas, proving their worth as an outdoor clothing brand.

Fast-forward to 1997. Liam Gallagher, the iconic frontman of the band Oasis and a legend in the world of Britpop, pivoted the Berghaus brand with one fashion statement.
Synonymous with bold fashion statements and an unapologetic attitude, Liam Gallagher wore a Trango Berghaus jacket, renowned for its durability and signature block-colour design, on Oasis’s European leg of the Be Here Now tour. With this single outing, he re-branded the Berghaus logo as a badge of honour and influenced the ‘Liam Gallagher Jacket’, which is synonymous with rave culture, Madchester, and the 90s Britpop scene.

The launch of Berghaus’ highly anticipated ICONS Collection marks a pivotal moment in the brand’s evolution. Featuring classic models like the Trango Gore-Tex, Mera Peak, and Lumley, the collection takes inspiration from Berghaus' rich heritage while bringing these iconic pieces into the future. Each jacket has been meticulously refined to perform at the highest level, whether you’re tackling summits or navigating the streets.

The legendary rock star is teaming up again with Berghaus. With his latest gig as the face of the Berghaus Trango jacket in the ICON range, Gallagher brings a fresh edge to the brand, blending his rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic with high-performance outdoor apparel.

Speaking about the collab, Liam said:

“My first encounter with Berghaus was through my brother Noel. He purchased a green one in the late 80s and I was always pinching it off him. They were all the rage, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of my own. I thought to myself, ‘When I’m rich and famous, I’m getting myself one.’ I finally did that, and I’ve still got it to this day. To be asked to work with them on their comeback means a lot.”

Liam Gallagher’s influence on fashion is undeniable. Whether it’s his love for Parkas, statement scarves, or ever-present attitude, Gallagher’s look has become a symbol of casual yet effortlessly stylish British rock culture.

His latest gig as the face of Berghaus gives fans a glimpse into his personal style evolution. His wardrobe is evolving to embrace more functional, outdoor-inspired pieces without compromising on style.

This endorsement solidifies the Trango jacket's status as more than just outerwear—it’s a true cultural symbol. For Gallagher and his loyal fans, the Trango isn’t merely a jacket; it’s a piece of music history woven into the very fabric of British fashion. As the new edition lands, it’s set to continue the legacy of its original 1986 design—just as timeless and influential as when it first made its mark, becoming fashion’s ‘Wonderwall’.
